Zusatztipps für die Zubereitung

For extra flavor in your meatballs, try adding a tablespoon of finely chopped fresh basil or a teaspoon of fennel seeds to the mixture. The meatballs can be prepared up to a day ahead and stored in the refrigerator before baking. If you prefer a smoother marinara sauce, use an immersion blender before adding the meatballs. For a spicier kick, increase the amount of red pepper flakes in the sauce.

Varianten und Anpassungen

This recipe is highly adaptable to your preferences. Ground chicken works beautifully as a substitute for turkey. For a Mediterranean twist, add some chopped kalamata olives and crumbled feta to the meatballs. To make the recipe dairy-free, omit the Parmesan or substitute nutritional yeast for a similar umami flavor. For those avoiding eggs, try using 2 tablespoons of unsweetened applesauce as a binder instead.

Serviervorschläge

These lettuce wraps make a complete meal on their own, but they pair wonderfully with simple sides. Try serving them alongside roasted vegetables like zucchini or bell peppers for extra color and nutrition. A light cucumber and tomato salad makes a refreshing accompaniment. For those wanting a bit more substance, cauliflower rice or a small portion of quinoa works well. For entertaining, prepare mini versions as appetizers that guests can enjoy in one or two bites.
